Comments: | by Geoffrey Godden: Other portraits of Queen Victoria depicted her as she was on her accession in 1837 (§955a) - [being go284 on this site]. The silks showing her in 1887 were issued in two sizes, one (§955) - [being go288 on this site] - of 7 inches by 5 1/4 inches (17.8cm by 13.3cm), the other (§955b) 6 inches by 4 1/2 inches (15.2cm by 11.4cm) - [being the image above]. In addition to these, a large Jubilee Trophy was made, measuring 9 inches by 7 inches (22.9cm by 17.8cm). This included a portrait silk of Queen Victoria, the Royal Arms and other emblems (§955c) - [being go4 on this site]. Other comments: Godden above refers to two portraits issued in 1887. Further research has now established there are actually three: |
