Most Excellent
Majesty.

May it please Your Majesty,

We, Your Majesty's loyal subjects,
the Mayor, Aldermen, and Citizens of the
City of Coventry, in Council assembled,
beg to approach Your Majesty with
heartfelt congratulations on the
twenty-fifth anniversary of Your reign.

We pray that Your Majesty
and our beloved Queen,
who have shared with Your people
so many trials and joys,
may long be spared to lead the Nation
in the paths of peace and happiness.

Comments:
This silk does not have a Stevens trademark, but John High had an accompanying article from 'Midland Daily Telegraph' of 10th May 1935, stating the address was designed and woven by Thomas Stevens.

Upon the accession of Edward VII to the throne in 1902, Coventry sent the first woven Loyal Address. On that occation, the silk was designer by S. G. Poole, and woven by students at the Coventry Textile School. There are certain similarities to the silk above, as can be seen on opo21.
