This ship was launched and named S.S. Zeeland, in 1901 (with Stevens creating a card with this name). During the Second World War this name was considered too germanic, and she was renamed S.S. Northland. For a short period during the war she was known as H.M.T. Northland (that is, the card above), whilst being used as a troop ship by the British. Out of interest, it is worth noting that despite the printed title, the name woven on the actual silk is still ZEELAND. After the war, she reverted back to her S.S. Zeeland name; eventually being re-named to S.S. Minnesota (for which there is no Stevens card).
