Record Day's Run, November 2nd, 1907 - 624 knots

Two things worth noting about the printing on this and the next card:
Firstly, the Record Day's Run is recorded as " KNOTS ". In nautical terms, a " Knot " is a measure of speed, and I am informed that 624 knots would be near 700mph. Mauretania had a design speed of 24knots! Perhaps what the printers meant was that the Record Day's Run was 624 nautical miles. Even so, if achieved over a 24 hour period, this still averaged 26knots.
Secondly, this run was recorded on 2 November 1907. Mauretania's maiden voyage was on 16 November, so the record seems to have been achieved during her trials - not on a passenger route. Her official deep sea, full-power trials started on 3 November 1907 and comprised four runs of 300 nautical miles. It would seem unlikely she actually travelled 624 nautical miles in one day prior to her official trials, and it is more likely a calculated figure (particularly since 26knots multiplied by 24 hours is exactly 624 nautical miles).
