NOTE: However, the " N " of STEVENS is reversed.

This bookmark also has a woven diamond registration mark on the reverse, which dates the design to 8 October 1862.

This design however is not recorded by Godden as having been registered:

Godden notes that on 8 October 1862, Stevens registered the design " I wish you a merry Christmas " {recorded as sb318 on this site}. As the overall design of that bookmark is the same as the one above, it is evident Stevens simply modified the registered design, and the one above was not actually registered at all.
