This bookmark shows an image of John Bright MP (1811 - 1889).
He was a Quaker and an advocate for universal sufferage. He was a national hero in his fight for free trade in the UK, and also anti-slavery in the US.
He was MP for Birmingham up to his death.

Apart from the portrait image of Bright, this bookmark is identical to sb598. The portrait above appears to be of a slightly younger man that that of sb598.
