The central design of the silk bookmark is used in a number of bookmarks made by Stevens.
In addition, the stiff backing paper above has the same printing as bookmark sb1884, which itself has been identified as of Stevens manufacture. The identical bookmark on the left above is still attached to a different stiff backing paper, this time with the STEVENS name printed, so there is no doubt that STEVENS made this bookmark. As mentioned elsewhere on this site, it is believed Mannion was an agent of STEVENS, and that at this Exposition, both STEVENS and Mannion had looms working. It is also believed, although not proved, that Mannion used the same cards as STEVENS. |
