Comments: | The Shakespeare's Tercentenary Commemoration bookmarks were issued in a set of three, of which this design is the bottom one, and all were retained by a button. The top one, "The Bard of Avon" is the only one with the actual words "Tercentenary Commemoration". Also note that it is only the top silk which has the woven Stevens name, and when issued with the button, all three had pointed tops. The three silks were however also issued as single bookmarks, when they had flat tops, as this one. The image on the left (donated by Georg Hartong) is still attached to the original stiff backing paper used to support the bookmark in the post. |
