This bookmark is more correctly described as a card bookmark with an inserted woven tapestry. There are two slots on either side of the card, with each end of the tapestry pushed through and secured on the reverse.
There are recorded three versions of this card bookmark; with the tapestry identical to all. Identification relates to the second row of the printing at the foot of the card: The first, (recorded as cash-bm0754 on this site), was made at the British Industries Fair (B.I.F.) Exhibition, as recorded with the words " WOVEN ON OUR EXHIBITION LOOM " at the foot of the card. The second version, recorded above, has the words as " WOVEN ON ONE OF OUR LOOMS ", suggesting it was woven at the CASH'S factory rather than the Exhibition. The third version, (recorded as cash-bm0212 on this site), has a slightly different title as: " CASH'S SOUVENIR BOOKMARK 1936, ", and the printed words are " ILLUSTRATES THE FINE CRAFTSMANSHIP ", and ends with a reference to SELFRIDGE'S. |
