by Geoffrey Godden:
A silk depicting King Edward VII as the Prince of Wales - with, above {should be: below} the Royal Standard, a circle containing the Prince of Wales' three-feather crest and motto - was belatedly registered by Grant & Co. on 4 February 1901, two weeks after he had succeeded to the throne as King Edward VII. It therefore seems unlikely this silk was ever issued.
Other comments:
This was the only silk of the Prince of Wales issued by Grant, although even so, the design is quite different to every other Grant portrait.
As noted by Godden, Edward succeeded to the throne shortly after this silk was issued, and Grant changed the words printed above and below the silk, and re-issued it as: His Majesty King Edward VII - God Save the King! {recorded as go182 on this site}.
