by Geoffrey Godden:
This portrait silk, which bears no Grant credit, was registered on 27 February 1901. Examples bear " Rd No. 370718 " under the Royal Arms.
The card-mount normally measures 9 1/4 inches by 7 inches (23.5cm by 17.8cm), the sight size of the silks being 5 1/4 inches by 3 1/4 inches (13.3cm by 8.3cm) {recorded as go 168}; with a smaller card measures 7 inches by 5 1/4 inches (17.8cm by 13.3cm), the sight size of the silks being 4 inches by 2 1/4 inches (10.2cm by 5.7cm), {the version above}.
The subject was also issued as a postcard [recorded as gc 3].
The early versions of the portrait have the printed title in fancy type; but some rarer, later examples are mounted on a darker card-mount without any title.
A very rare version is mounted on the same card as HER MAJESTY QUEEN ALEXANDRA [go 8 on this site].
