ROYAL JUBILEE EXHIBITION AND GROUNDS, NEWCASTLE-ON-TYNE
A similar silk view of the 1887 Exhibition to that issued by Thomas Stevens and listed as number 57 {recorded as st520 on this site}. Several slight differences occur, however, and the crown and initials "V. R." are not printed on the card-mount above the silk. The Grant version was registered on 15 June 1887.

Other comments:
The woven silk pictures on the exhibition have the title ROYAL JUBILEE EXHIBITION. There are two images above, one woven in green silk thread, the other in black. The card mount of the black silk version is original, whilst that of the green silk version appears not to be original, but a more modern version.
The bookmarks issued at the same exhibition however refer to the INTERNATIONAL MINING ENGINEERING AND INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION {two versions are known, being Exhibition Grounds, and Old Tyne Bridge.

Two other silks pictures were also issued at the Exhibition by Grant.
Both are titled " Ye Olde Tyne Bridge".
The first has the title printed below the silk, and the reference to having been woven at the exhibition printed below that title.
The second version has the "Old Tyne Bridge" title printed above the silk, and the ROYAL JUBILEE EXHIBITION AND GROUNDS, NEWCASTLE-ON-TYNE title printed below.
