This Edinburgh view was introduced at the 1886 Edinburgh Exhibition, being registered on 27 April 1886 under the number 47890. Examples were woven at the Exhibition and sold at 6d each. These exhibition pieces have special commemorative wording printed on the card-mount.
The subject was also used as a unit in the multi-silk picture entitled 'Old Edinburgh Views'.
