Comments:
by Austin Sprake:
Central portrait of the Queen, facing left, surrounded by portraits of nine Premiers; views of Balmoral, Houses of Parliament and Windor underneath.

by Geoffrey Godden:
Queen of Great Britain and Ireland, the Dominions, etc., she was born on the 24 May 1819, succeeded to the throne in 1837 and ruled until her death on the 22 January 1901.
Several Stevengraphs depict Queen Victoria under separate titles.

This imposing large Stevengraph would form the centrepiece of any collection of silk portraits. The card-mount measures 10 1/10 inches by 7 2/5 inches with a window-size of 6 1/2 inches by 4 1/10 inches.

The picture includes a central portrait of Queen Victoria, surrounded by the portraits of the nine Prime Ministers who held office between 1835 and 1886.
The colourful Royal Arms are woven below Queen Victoria's portrait, and below this are views of Balmoral, Houses of Parliament and Windsor.

The title first appears on label 23+26+2 of late 1887. The early issues are mounted on type C2 card-mounts, which normally have the Royal Crown with the letters V.R. printed above the panel. Subsequent runs are mounted on type E card-mounts, without the crown and initials.
