Other comments:
As noted above, the signature of Roberts is in the middle of the silk, below the portrait, rather than the usual position to the left.
There is a mysterious mark to the left of the signature, just below the covered wagon, which looks like the top of the " R " of the normal large signature silk, [as can be seen on so436]. If it is, and bearing in mind the actual signature is of the normal small size silk, then it would appear as if this silk was woven with a number of jacquard cards out of line.
