Comments:
by Austin Sprake:
Title woven in. A black and white portrait of Thomas Stevens' grandson. This has only been seen on a mount with two apertures, and in postcard form. In the left aperture is the portrait and in the right one a picture of a terrier, seated, with the title "Prince" woven in. The portrait was apparently produced just for members of the family and very few specimens are know. It is one of the rarest Stevengraphs.

by Geoffrey Godden:
This extremely rare silk portrait of Thomas Stevens' grandson, Sandell Stevens, may not have been made for commercial sale. The example illustrated has been mounted with one of the terrier 'Prince'. Both silks are of postcard size, and they may have been originally issued as cards - possibly only for the use of the Stevens family. The title does not appear on known Stevens labels.

Sandell's father reputedly purchased for his son the first Standard motor-car made in Coventry.

Sandell died soon after this, in 1906.
