The top turn over has the words
H. SLINGSBY & SON. MANUFACTURERS, NUNEATON

Godden records this design as having been registered on 21 June 1874. Rather than weaving in the Diamond Registration mark, Slingsby tended to stamp it on the back of his silks, using ink. There is just such a stamped Diamond Registration mark on the reverse of the black background ribbon, although it is too indistinct to be able to read the date.

The black background ribbon has a pin sewn into the top turnover, so the ribbon could be worn as a badge.
