This bookmark was probably not woven by Matthews at all. He was probably just an outlet.

There is an indistinct diamond registration mark on the reverse, pointed end of this bookmark. Godden does not record this design as having been registered by Matthews, although he does recorded a registration of this title by John Caldicott on 11 October 1862, which is recorded as oca20 on this site.
