Other comments:
There is no weavers name anywhere on this portrait, and it is attributed to GRANT only because Grant was known to have produced a picture of ASHFORD CHURCH for this Exhibition, and there is no evidence anyone else wove for the exhibition.

Mr Lewis was clearly of some significance to either the Exhibition or the town of Ashford, although at this time I have no idea which or why.

The portrait has a label on the reverse, saying the portrait was " MANUFACTURED EXPRESSLY FOR LEWIS & HYLAND " - presumably the same LEWIS of the portrait:
